Post Match Report

This match was slow to get going but the 2018 and 2019 singles champs, Jane Henthorn and Paula Marriott got off to a good start by banking 2 fish on Friday, a mirror of 15lb 3oz and a common of 21lb 4oz. These ladies do seem to be able to target a good stamp of fish on this venue. The only other pair to catch on the first day were Joanne Barlow and Chloe Dodson Shanks who had a small stockie. Saturday was better, with five pairs putting fish on the scales and therefore making the scoreboard looking a little more interesting. The biggest movers were Jane and Paula in peg 10, adding a brace of 20’s to their score. Ellen Beedham and Sam Hoskins in peg 1 had two smaller fish. Miranda Brown and Tania Williams had one, Rachel Bladen and  Sarah Davey had a nice 15lb 10oz common.

Joanne and Chloe had three more fish to put them in second place but they were still approximately 30lb behind Jane and Paula.

Sunday morning changed everything with Jo and Chloe landing another four fish, giving them the lead with over 93lb. Although Jane and Paula had a 20lb average they didn’t catch again and had to settle for runners up spot. Linda Breeze and Ami Parker had two fish before the end, getting them on the board in fourth. Rachel and Sarah’s common on Saturday was enough to secure third place.

Sometimes the draw has an effect on the result and other times not so much. On this occasion, Joanne and Chloe came out first, picked peg 14 and won whereas Jane and Paula came out last and got runners up!
